SQUADRON & SILVER SPUR REUNION LOCATION ANNOUNCED

Our reunion committee has been communicating and meeting, considering input from members and countless other factors, to choose our next reunion site. After careful deliberation, the decision has been made: the Silver Spurs and their guests will return to San Antonio , Texas in 2010.

The reunion dates this year are April 7th through 11th, Wednesday through Sunday. Please put these dates on your calendar and make your plans. As always, members of the squadron organization, all other 3/17 Cav veterans, and all active duty Silver Spur troopers are invited and welcome at our reunion. As the time approaches, registration forms and procedures will be sent out and posted.

Among other locations, we considered meeting in Savannah , hopefully with our active duty unit. However, the uncertainty of their location in 2010 made this impractical. Lots of possible activities in San Antonio are being considered, to include golf, visits to old Spanish missions, shopping trips for wives and girlfriends, and barge rides on the San Antonio River . The excellent Radisson Hotel will host us again and has promised the same special room rates. Do not put off coming to a reunion - they are great fun, and we are not getting any younger.

Joe Galloway has asked if he can switch his talk to us from Friday night to Saturday night, 10 April.  Most of you know that a lost Huey recently was found in Vietnam, and remains of the crew have been returned.  A burial ceremony for some of those remains has been scheduled at Arlington Cemetery and Joe was asked to be there and participate on 8 & 9 April 2010.  This came up after he committed to us.  This 1st Cav Huey from Bruce Crandall's unit disappeared on a routine flight between An Khe and Qui Nhon in 1965, while Joe was in-country nearby.  In order to accommodate his schedule, he will speak to us at Enchanted Springs Ranch on Saturday night.  Sometime on Saturday prior to the Ranch bus trip, Joe will be available at the hotel to sign books, DVDs, or papers.  (Books will not be sold; bring your own.)  This change has been posted on our Silver Spur bulletin board.
